How does verification work?
Every host submits their listing with full contact details, photos, and property information. SurfyHost reviews each submission and contacts the host directly before the listing goes live. For properties in Costa Rica, physical visits are carried out where possible. If a listing is on this page, it has passed that review.
Can I contact the host before committing to anything?
Yes, and that is exactly how it works. Each listing includes the host’s contact details: WhatsApp number, email address, and any other channels they’ve shared. You reach out directly, ask your questions, and decide from there. There is no booking request to submit, no platform approval to wait for.
Are prices negotiable?
That depends on the host. Because you’re in direct contact with the property owner, you can ask. Many hosts are open to adjusting rates for longer stays, off-season bookings, or repeat guests. No platform policy prevents that conversation from happening.
What if something goes wrong with a booking?
SurfyHost is a listing and connection platform, not a booking intermediary. There is no platform support line for disputes between guests and hosts. This is the trade-off for paying no booking fees and dealing directly with owners. Before committing to a stay, ask the host for clear terms in writing and use a payment method that gives you a record of the transaction.
Are cryptocurrency payments accepted?
Some hosts accept crypto. Where this applies, it is noted on the listing or can be confirmed directly with the host. It is not available across all properties.
