About SurfyHost
Two Problems. One Platform.
The traveler’s problem: you want a reliable place to stay for three weeks or three months in a surf area. Your options are Airbnb at full markup, or a WhatsApp group where listings disappear, photos lie, and there is no way to know if the person on the other end will show up.
The host’s problem: you own the property, you manage the guests, you handle every repair and every message at midnight. Then a platform takes 15 to 20% of every booking for connecting you with a traveler you could have reached directly.
Anne-Laure
Co-Founder
Anne-Laure spent over 20 years in real estate, including building and running her own agency. She left that career to move to Costa Rica, settled in Santa Teresa, and built multiple properties there from the ground up. She now has projects underway in Pavones as well.
She rents and sells her own properties, and she is an active host on SurfyHost. She did not design the platform from theory; she designed it from the receipts.
The decision to build SurfyHost came directly from her experience as a host: watching a significant share of every booking go to a platform that contributed nothing to the property, the guest experience, or the relationship. Twenty years in real estate gave her the professional framework. Building and operating her own properties in Costa Rica gave her the specifics.
Adrien
Co-Founder
Adrien has been living across Central America for over ten years. Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Panama: he has spent extended stays in all of them, several months at a time, moving through the region the way most travelers never do.
That kind of long-term, recurring presence gives you a specific type of knowledge. You learn which areas are worth it and which ones are overhyped. You learn how to find accommodation that isn’t on the major platforms. You also learn, firsthand, how unreliable that process is: Facebook groups that go inactive, WhatsApp contacts that stop responding, listings with photos that bear no resemblance to the property.
He understands the traveler’s problem from the inside because he has lived it, repeatedly, across five countries and a decade.
What SurfyHost Is
What is it
A verified listing platform for surf and lifestyle properties
Direct connection between travelers and hosts
Built by active hosts and long-term regional travelers
Focused on Central America, with real local knowledge
What is not
A booking platform with fees on every transaction
An intermediary that manages payments or guest relations
A business idea from outside the market
A global directory with no geographic expertise
Every listing goes through a review before it goes live. Physical property visits are carried out where possible.
Browse the verified listings to see what that standard looks like in practice.
Where SurfyHost Operates
The platform is currently focused on Costa Rica.
Nicaragua, Panama, El Salvador, and Mexico are next.

The geographic scope is not a growth map drawn at a desk. It follows the surf corridor that both founders know from years of traveling and living through it.
Whether you’re looking for a property or want to list one, the process is straightforward.
